We have a place for you!

Engaging Culture & Theology

The 4th Saturday of each month, we will take the time to discuss a book relevant to culture and theology issues and how we as a church can engage.  This will be a round table discussion in place of the sermon.  Our first discussion will be      September 23rd. This month’s book is Embracing Exile by Scott Daniels.  Copies of the book are still available at the information desk!  They are $5 each. Pizza will be provided.

Velva’s Sunday school class is following a DVD led series by Andy Stanley, titled "When God?" Sometimes we think God is inattentive, uncooperative or late in answering our prayers. We all face times when it feels like God is far away. Our prayers may remain unanswered and our circumstances go from bad to worse. During these times, God doesn't just seem distant; he seems distracted. People tell us to pray. Preachers tell us to have more faith. But what does the Bible say? That's what we will explore over the next three weeks. All adults are welcome to attend Sunday mornings at 9:20am. Room 103

Holly Lewis’s Sunday School Class for Women of all ages is studying “Present over Perfect”, by Shauna Neiquist. If you are a woman who does too much (aren't we all), then this study may be just for you: Present over perfect is about returning to the theme of decluttering everyday life and concentrating on what is truly important. The author shares how to overcome a life of busyness, stress, and feelings of inadequacy and learning how to say no to demands of her time and to quit worrying about other's opinions of her. This Fall, a Midweek Small Group Fellowship will be on a discovery mission—focusing on selected mysteries about God that are highlighted in Jonathan Cahn’s The Book of Mysteries. It’s a good night for us when God speaks into our lives, fellowship/support is experienced and motivation is received to better apply God’s truth in daily life. If this is what you might enjoy, come join us. It doesn’t matter to us if you’re a Centennial, Millennial, Gen X, a Boomer (or older) or what your marital status is. Jon Saunders and John Evans are the co-leaders of this fellowship group. Discussion leadership is rotated between two men and two women. Join them Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM at John and Evie’s house: 13 Chaparral Circle. For more information, call 719-229-9926.
